Specialists Manufacturers of Waste Handling Machinery Range
UNIVERSAL
BALER
A full range of Universal Balers are manufactured to handle woodshavings,
chopped straw, chopped hay and shredded paper. Machines are individually designed
to enable various bale sizes and production through-put to be catered for.
A typical 22kW machine will produce a 25kg bale, process approximately 3.0
Tonnes of material per hour and achieve a compression ratio of approximately
5:1. All machines are fully automated, PLC controlled and in compliance with
current European legislation.
20 / 25 KG WOODSHAVING BALERS
Challenger
has now been manufacturing woodshavings balers and associated equipment since
1991. The most popular machine within this range is the 20 / 25 kg
woodshavings
baler and there are well over 150 such machines throughout the World. Not
only do we offer the standard 20 / 25 kilogram balers, we also manufacture
pet pack balers, 200 kilogram balers, conveyors, dust extraction screens,
automatic polythene packaging machines and complete manufacturing systems.
The balers have been designed to lend themselves to customisation and they
have been used to re-package wood chip, saw dust, shredded paper, shredded
card, chopped straw, chopped hay, Haylage and ground coconut husk in the past.

PET
PACK BALER
The Pet Pack Baler has been specifically designed to satisfy the requirement
of pet shop suppliers for the packaging of bedding material. It can handle
woodshavings, chopped straw, chopped hay and shredded paper. The machine can
be manufactured to produce bales of various sizes to suit your requirements.
The unit is free standing, compact and is fitted with a modern Programmable
Logic Controller for fully automatic operation.
TURN KEY SOLUTIONS
Full woodshavings handling systems can be provided including Augers, Belt
Conveyors, Rotary Screens, Feed Hoppers and Scraper Chain Conveyors through
our mechanical handling division CHALLENGER MALPA.
DRUM CRUSHERS
Both Vertical and Horizontal Drum Crushers are manufactured to crush 25 litre
and 205 litre steel drums to a fraction of their original volume. This achieves
a more manageable size for recycling, transportation and landfill disposal.
Crushers can be manufactured to handle both full and empty drums. For full
drums a large hole is punctured into the base of the drum. The drum is then
crushed forcing the contents out through the base into a skip below. The crushed
drum is then ejected into a second skip for landfill/recycling.
Machines can be flame-proofed to meet various standards so as to meet the requirements of chemical, paint and waste management industries. Manual, Electric or Automated Controls can be provided fully dependant on operational requirements. In-feed and out-feed conveyors can be manufactured by our mechanical handling division CHALLENGER MALPA, allowing total schemes to be proposed and installed.
ENGINE
CRUSHERS
A range of engine crushers are manufactured to handle vehicle engines and
gearboxes and reduce them to small particles. Standard engine crushers have
been developed to separate the aluminium from the steel to simplify sorting.
Fully automatic cycles and manual override controls are provided for convenience.
The engine crushers are designed and developed to meet the exacting standards
required in the scrap industry and have replaceable wear plates for convenience.
A wide variety of optional equipment is available on request.
SPECIALIST WASTE COMPACTION EQUIPMENT
A full design and manufacturing service is offered where a non-standard machine
is required to solve a particular waste handling problem. Recent projects
of this nature have been successfully completed for many companies including
Nissan Motor Manufacturing, Rolls Royce Nuclear Division and Shanks & McEwan.
