Airless Shot Blasting Machine
The Challenger Drumtech Airless Shot Blast Machine is fully automatic and will process 100 drums per hour dependent on the surface finish required. The machine does not use compressed air in the blasting process with the shot being recirculated via a feed screw from the base of the machine and a bucket elevator to the distribution hopper above the shot cabinet. The shot is fed by two rotating manganese steel wheels, which are patterned to cover the surface of the drum and which is rotating in the fully enclosed cabinet. Doors at either side only open when the basting is complete to allow drums to enter and exit the machine automatically. Automatic Leak Detector
The Challenger Drumtech Semi Automatic Leak Detector will handle standard 205 litre capacity steel or plastic closed top drums, which are clean and dry in line with International quality control requirements. The drums are hand fed onto the base and then discharged manually on completion; however, it can be sited on a gravity roller conveyor track or adjacent to a platform to suit the customer’s layout to ease manual handling. Once the drum is placed on the base and the bung aligned with the nozzle, a pneumatic valve lowers the nozzle and charges the drum with air. When the air is stabilised and the ‘ready to test’ light illuminates, ultrasonic testing forleaks takes place and a green or red light shows either pass or fail respectively. A proof bung with a known leak is supplied with the machine and this should be used with a known good drum to check the calibration of the machine on a twice daily basis. Automatic Paint Station
The Challenger Drumtech Automatic Paint Booth provides the best paint finish for steel drums with the capability of one to three colours and centre banding if required. The number of colour applications for each drum depends on the number of paint pumps supplied. The paint system is usually a hot airless application to give optimum control over the paint thickness and quality. Drums are automatically fed into the machine and are transferred automatically whilst retaining separation. At the application station the drum is rotated and automatic guns fire in sequence to apply the desired finish. Each gun has a timer control to cater for colour and paint viscosity variations. The booth uses a high efficiency waterfall to collect the over spray and prevents its discharge to atmosphere in accordance with current EU environmental regulations. Carousel Hot Air Dryer
The Challenger Drumtech Carousel Hot Air Dryer is designed to give a controlled internal hot air drying treatment in order to ensure optimum dryness inside the drum. The machine is very simple to operate with the rotating arrangement indexed pneumatically by a single foot pedal. Jetting is provided by a high capacity centrifugal type fan coupled to a multi-stage steam coil heat exchanger. Cutter and Beading Machine (Cutter Curler)
The Challenger Drumtech Cutter and Beading machine (cutter curler) allows drums, which may otherwise be discarded due to leaks or for other reasons, to be converted into open top drums. One side is equipped with an efficient powered rotating cutting blade and on the opposite side is a curler/beading system, which forms a safe edge to the cut end. Lids that have been removed automatically form a shape during cutting and this allows them to be used for lids for open top drums when fitted with a new rubber seal and clip. The Challenger Drumtech Drum Crusher has been designed to crush un-useable 205 litre capacity steel drums to a fraction of their original height to keep both site storage and transportation costs to a minimum. The steel drum is manually placed into the cabinet, the operator closes the door and presses the Start Cycle button and the operation continues thereafter automatically. The heavy-duty structure is designed to take the stresses imposed by the hydraulic cylinder and the door is fitted with positive mode interlock to ensure operator safety. Drum Rotator/Mixer
The Challenger Drumtech Drum Rotator / Mixer is designed to handle full 210 litre steel drums whereby the drum is securely clamped in place within a fully guarded enclosure and is rotated end over end in order to mix the contents. The machine is designed to be loaded / unloaded using a forklift truck and when the access doors are closed an electrical safety switch will prevent operation if they are not secured or if they are opened during the cycle. The clamping system incorporates a simple adjustable means to cater for slight variation in drum diameters. Drum Scrubbing Machines
he Challenger Drumtech Scrubbing Machines are designed to wash plastic or steel open top containers. These are loaded by hand into the machine, the interlocked door closed and secured and the operation is started for the wash and scrub. After completion of the washing operation the door can be opened and container removed. Using different brush rotation speeds provides a vigorous scrubbing action and the wash medium is sprayed both internally and externally on the container whilst scrubbing. The brushes are assembled in sections for easy replacement and are manufactured in plastic material suitable for most detergents. All contact parts manufactured from Stainless Steel sheet braced as necessary to give a sturdy structure. Variations: Type A: Wash cycle both internal and external using fresh mains water to drain. IBC SINGLE WASH STATION
The Challenger Drumtech IBC single Wash Station has been developed to wash individual IBC’s where production volumes are relatively low. This Wash Station comes complete with a high pressure industrial stove enamelled wash cabinet capable of delivery up to 14 litres per minute at up to 150 Bar pressure and rated for 8 hour duty. A siphon tube with valve control enables a detergent to be fed from a local container during the washing cycle. This can be set via a separate timer to give an initial timed detergent dose and a final wash can then be completed for another set timed period using fresh water. The main timer can either be positioned within the cabinet or on the front to customer preference. A pneumatically operated control panel is provided and it comes complete with indicator showing wash in operation and an indication of wash time complete. Multi-Head Filler
The Challenger Drumtech Multi Head Filler is designed to fill four drums consecutively to a predetermined weight without the need for any manual intervention for topping up to the set level. The sequential fill program has an automatic, pallet and drum tare facility to provide accuracy and an indicator shows the operator when the process is finished. Individual drum fill weights are shown on the panel to allow operator verification. The four filling heads each have self-closing valves and are fed from a manifold to start and stop the liquid flow. A bypass line via a smaller valve provides the dribble feed to ensure accuracy.
